Absurd everyday situations
Evgen's most recent projects are a social critique of contemporary consumerism society. He finds his inspiration in urban life and it´s absurd everyday situations, which he tends to deform by using diverse techniques and lively colors.
Evgen Čopi Gorišek is a contemporary artist based in Berlin. He was born in 1994 in Koper (Slovenia). Since 2011 he is regularly exhibiting his works around the world and had many solo exhibitions in Slovenia.
In 2015 he was invited to Gemona (Italy), where he participated in an international street art festival, called Elementi Sotteranei.
Although he is mostly passionate about doing larger paintings and murals, he enrolled in the Sculpture program at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana in 2015. He is currently on a temporary break from his studies, to pursue his painting career abroad.
His sculptures are made using found objects and trash which he combines with different materials (usually plastic, concrete or iron). In his earlier works he deals with the psychological aspects of living in a city, involving people and animals – sometimes so intertwined that it´s almost impossible to separate from one another.
